Who we are? About Us
BM SUMER originated from the consultancy B Mutlu Sumer Professor, C Ing., based in Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark, active over more than 25 years in Coastal, Offshore, Hydraulic, River, Marine Civil Engineering. With speciality areas such as scour / scour protection around marine and hydraulic structures; marine soil liquefaction and its implications for marine structures; current and wave loading on and hydroelastic vibrations of marine / hydraulic structures including pipelines; river engineering; coastal and river sediment transport.
Professor Sumer was joined by Dr. Kirca in 2015 to set up BM SUMER. Today, BM SUMER provides to clients as consultants in-depth insight and creative solutions in matters related to all aspects of Coastal, Hydraulic and Offshore Engineering.
Extending beyond the classical consultancy services, BM SUMER consultants provide services in which consultancy and advanced-research go hand in hand. BM SUMER consultants employ cutting-edge methods and technologies, including advanced mathematical / numerical modelling as well as physical modelling studies to achieve the most optimal solutions to engineering problems.

previously Professor
at the Technical University of Denmark.
Associate Prof. V S Özgür Kırca
Founder
V.S. Ozgur Kirca is the co-founder of the firm. He is
an Associate
Professor of Hydraulics and Coastal Engineering at Istanbul Technical University, Department of
Civil Engineering.

SINKING OF GBS
Tailored for
gravity-based structure (GBS) design on liquefiable
soil. Assesses the sinking risk of GBS, calculates the floatation/sinking velocity, ultimate sinking
depth and sinking time if applicable.
SINKING/FLOATATION OF PIPELINES
Tailored for
pipeline design in liquefiable soil. Assesses whether
a given pipeline has the risk of floatation or sinking in a liquefied seabed due to waves, and
calculates the floatation/sinking velocity, ultimate sinking depth and floatation/sinking time if
applicable.
SINKING OF 3D INDIVIDUAL BLOCK
Tailored for
individual blocks (armour blocks, sea mines, anchors,
etc.) on liquefiable soil. Assesses the sinking risk of the block, calculates the sinking velocity,
ultimate sinking depth and sinking time if applicable.
SINKING OF 2D INDIVIDUAL OBJECTS

individual elongated/large objects resting on
liquefiable soil. Assesses the sinking risk of the block, calculates the sinking velocity, ultimate
